About

photo2-2

Hello, I'm Natasha, a lady with thick bangs short hair and a
maker of sweet things. I'm also a third-year law student recently Georgia barred attorney and spend most of my non-baking time learning and reading and concentrating and becoming better. I grew up in the country in Texas with large spaces, lazy porches, and winding roads. Expansive pastures, country air, and felines.

I now live in Atlanta, Georgia, with which I have fallen madly in love--the changing leaves and definitive seasons, the close proximity to mountains and beach. Georgia has given me moments of wonder and introduced me to the best of places, eats/drinks, people, and things. And the peaches, oh, the peaches. I used to think I'd venture northward or westward, but it seems the south has its hold on me.

I have a cat named Atari who came halfway across the country with me. He likes to lay in sun beams and drink out of the faucet and is basically awesome. I call him little bear.

I spend much my time with a sweet man who makes the best coffee on the planet, rides a baby blue bike, and has freckly eyelids. He is smart and creative and much more interesting than me. He makes all of our non-dessert/non-sweet food items and is the unofficial taste tester of all my baked goods. His name is Dale. Here he is...

Other things. I've been known to eat Cotija cheese by the forkful. I prefer to live in dresses and skirts, and I hate pants (unless high-waisted). I'm a worried baker, rarely certain. Sometimes I stress bake. I'm an anti-hoarder--I really like to throw things away. And my favorite fruit is Texas red grapefruit.

Also, I want to make tartlets forever.

My first experience with baking involved my grandmother and chocolate cake. She and my great aunt were quite the bakers, never ceasing to impress with cakes and pies and cookies galore. It seems I've inherited their love of sweets and of baking for others.

This blog began out of that love, to spend my free time with my favorite of things, those that are sweet. I think seasonally and locally and try my hardest to bake in a similar manner. I like comforting sweets that make people feel good, be it fancy, refined, simple, or silly. In the end, I just make want to make (and eat) something satisfying and delicious.

  4. Aww this post is so lovely. I feel like I just got to step into your tranquil, super artsy style-y life for a minute! How funny--I moved from California to Texas (though definitely the city, not the country) and one of my good friends is from Atlanta, so I feel a sort of tie to both places! Texas grapefruits ARE amazing and as for cheese by the forkful? I'll see your cojita and raise you a baked brie :)

    1. Aw, thank you so much. I'm happy to have you here!

I love finding little connections with people like that! Why ever would you leave California for Texas though?? Aside from the grapefruit--that alone may be reason enough I suppose! :)

And I'll take the cotija and brie... and stilton and cheddar and all of it. Give me all the cheese!

  5. Your photography is wonderful! I recently started a food blog of my own as I enjoy food and photography, but I mostly make non-sweets and am not much of a baker. Nonetheless, your photos have inspired me and I am excited to try some of your recipes - I hope they turn our as nicely as yours :)

I also enjoy that you describe yourself as an anti-hoarder because I consider myself one as well. Ahhh, getting rid of things!

    1. Thank you! I generally only make sweets. I leave the non-sweets to my boyfriend, who is a rather good cook, I must say. Let me know if you try any recipes and how they turn out!
